A few things to consider when looking for
notebooks for sale.
When looking for new notebooks it can seem like a minefield.
However, there are a few things you should consider when looking for
notebooks for sale. There are so many shapes and sizes of notebooks out
there with something to suit everyone, but what you have to work out is what
you really want your notebook for before you buy one.
Getting the right size for your needs
Size is a very important factor, you can get notebooks that have 10” to 17”
monitors.
The smallest notebook you can get is the netbook with its 10”-12” monitor,
which looks very cute and is easy to carry around if you are on the move all
the time. Next in line is the sub notebook which usually comes with a 13”
screen, again, this is easy to carry around but just gives a bit more
visibility space to do your work on. The down side to all these smaller
laptops is that you tend not to get as much processing power, memory or disk
space and anything with a screen of 13” and below will not have an internal
CD/DVD player/writer, which means you would have to buy and plug in a clumsy
external unit to play or write to CDs/DVDs and these and be very fiddly.
At the larger end of the scale comes the 15”-17” screen monitors these
aren’t as easy to transport but provide far better visibility especially if
you are dealing with lots of detailed files like long documents, lots of
numbers or data. The benefit of having a larger notebook is that, as
mentioned above, you will not only have an internal CD/DVD player/writer but
also you will receive better processing power, larger memory and more disk
space.
Generally, the 15” notebook is the most popular as it contains the best of
both worlds. It’s not too big and will provide a better specification
machine, they are also most often the cheapest in terms of cost.
Weight may also be a consideration
Along with size, weight should also be considered. Whenever you see
notebooks for sale, the weight of the unit should be clearly displayed. If
it isn't, ask.
Processor, memory and disk space aren’t as much of an issue as they used to
be, as most laptops come with a pretty good base level for all of these
things now. However, you should still think about these factors i.e. if you
are going to store lots of music or photos on your notebook you should get
as much disk space as possible or if you are going to be doing lots of data
processing on your laptop you will need a faster processor.
If you find a notebook that you like, you should always try and find reviews
of the computer to see whether people have experienced any issues with the
product and also to see if there is any feedback on the support provided
with the laptop. There is nothing more frustrating than having bad technical
support when something goes wrong.
I hope this article has helped you in outlining things you should look for
when you purchase a notebook.
Good luck with your search for your new laptop.
